how do you get on this list?

  3. Lil Rel says:

I am reading all the comments and people make valid points good and bad…. If we looked at how they made the list in which this website explains it would make more sense to you… At the end of the day everybody still wouldn’t be happy if every name in black comedy was on the list…. I appreciate it if I’m on there or not… Its list done all the time by comedy central and no one especially black comics don’t cause an uproar then which is really when we need to step up and speak our opinion…. Its so many dope hard working urban comics out here it would be hard for me as a comedy fan to make a list but hey I appreciate Da Lauging Barrel for being a new platform for us to showcase our skills and for not being just about the hollywood comics… Its only they’re opinion…. At the end of the day its motivating if you’re on or off the list… I’m excited to see the direction Urban Comedy is going and even more excited to be part of the next class… But its dope to read everyone opinions…

      • comedian lady lunchabell says:

I dont see comedian ill will on this list out of chicago an chicago loves this dude well i guest i will never make this list then if your home town loves you.

        • Anonymous says:

        • THE REAL LADY LUNCHABELL says:

THIS IS THE REAL LADY LUNCHABELL & THAT 1st COMMENT THAT WAS NOT SENT BY ME. I APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERY COMEDIAN LISTED HANDS DOWN!!!! I WORK EXTREMELY HARD AT MY CRAFT & MY DEDICATION IS ENDLESS. I KNOW HARD WORK PAYS OFF & THESE GUYS PUT IN WORK….THE LOVE I RECEIVE FROM MY CITY IS PHENOMENAL AND I WOULDN’T TRADE THEM IN. I’M PISSED THAT SOMEONE WOULD HIDE BEHIND MY NAME TO MAKE A IRRELEVANT POINT! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO MADE THE LIST KEEP RISING!!!

  6. PIERRE says:

This is someone’s opinion, which they have a right to have. I don’t judge my career on one persons opinion even if I made the list or not. They picked some very talented and funny cats, sure they left some out, but all “list’s” will do that. I’ve never been a Fan of list’s cause being emotional creatures, some who don’t make the list will feel let down and some who make it will feel they’ve “made it”. As I said before it’s just someone’s opinion don’t let it phase u either way. Congrats if u made the list. Only thing I find strange is the “To Look out for” title some we know or have known, they had big years in the last few years, so we have ready “looked out” for them (lol). It’s like saying look out for Obama he’s going to be running for re-election in 2012..really? But as I said before everyone has a right to their opinion and the list has many talented comics on it. Oh yeah support SLICE 1&2..lol 3 being shot soon.

  7. Mello says:

SettitOff Settitoff Congrats to Chris Jones, Karlous Miller, n Vanessa Fraction….Salute all the comedians….YenFedi

  8. @JOVANBIBBS says:

The list says people to “look out for in 2012″. In all respect I think whether you’re an opener or not, the list is just saying people to look out for. I’m happy to see some new folks get some recognition, along with the vets. S/o to Vanessa Fraction, Willie Lynch jr., Chris Jones, Lil Rel, for making on the list. In the NBA every good player doesn’t make the all-star team EVERY year. Doesn’t mean they aren’t good at what they do though. It’s just a list. Take it in stride

  9. @CassiusCreflo says:

If they never ripped Uptown Comedy Corner in Atlanta and they’re black, “We don’t believe you,you need more people”(Jay-z voice)

  10. Brooklyn!! says:

Man yall missing a gang of people from ny on that list we got real comics out here

  11. Clark Jones says:

yall made a good list and showed love to some deserving comedians…I think you give Chappelle a few more years and he’l deserve to be one here. i mean, what impact has he had on the culture???
    #jokes

    clark jones 3000

  12. Ms. Wanda B. says:

On the rise? In my opinion some of these people has already made it, been seen on t.v., some with their on t.v. show, and seen in movies. It’s up to them to keep the ball rolling. So if you take what I said into consideration, at least ten or more can be removed to make room for more that are on the rise, or up and coming.

  13. GUEST says:

THO IM NOT ON THE LIST I THINK YOUR CHOICES ARE RESPECTABLE HAPPY NEW YEAR

  14. P says:

    NO MARTIN??????????

  15. Comedy Fan says:

Congratulations on making this type of list because when you do it, you know you’re opening yourself up. In my opinion, comedians to look out for should not include major household names because they’re already on our radar & their name sells itself. Removing Hart, Rock, Chappelle, Katt, Cedric, Tracy Morgan, Earthquake, Chris Tucker, DL, Eddie Griffin, Sommore, Mooney & Pops Witherspoon frees up 13 spots. I’m glad you factored in online presence because alot of entertainers are really slow in figuring out how important it is these days & it’s not your fault they aren’t maximizing their promotion. There’s no comicview or def jam right now for national tv exposure so they need to make use of twitter, facebook, youtube & dalaughingbarrel(I’d love to see the laffmobb youtube channel post regular content that’s more than just a shoutout like a certain kings of comedy producer is getting ready to do). A few names left off would be Pretty Ricky Fontaine(great sketches/characters), Roz G, Smokey Suarez, Alex Scott, Eddie Bryant, Dominique, Talent, TK Kirkland(fairly new youtube channel), Gerald Kelly, Benji Brown, Red Grant(Laffs on the harbor clips), Gina Yashere, Sonya D, David Arnold(Credits …….), Tony Roberts, Turae(Soul Comedy clips), Tony Rock, Ronnie Jordan, Dennis Gaxiola, Rahn Hortman, Malik S., Spank & Damon Williams(one of the busiest TRAVELING comedians in the country).

    • PIERRE says:

Damn I gotta get u as my Fan..lol

      • Comedy Fan says:

Haha, appreciate that but already a fan who just happens to think you’re above the “To look out for” level. Saw Slice 1 which was very well done & didn’t see the Slice 2 password until it was too late but if you were to re-post it I’d support & check it out. Much respect for taking your future & career into your own hands and making
things happen instead of waiting for them to!

    • Comedian Kelly "K-Dubb" says:

I agree with Comedy Fan & Pierre. This is a good list. Should have top 100. Hit me on twitter. @ComedianKDubb

      • Comedy Fan says:

Shout out to Kelly “K-Dubb” Walker, been watching you grind since Coming to the Stage along with Denny Live, Alex Scott & Lil JJ. Keep doing your thing & looking forward to what comes from your taping at the end of this month!

  27. Comic Writer says:

However made this list should take this down immediately. Half of these people you have dont even do stand up anymore? Affion Crockett hasn’t done a set in almost nine years! And some of the known names havent even done stand up in years either. 32. MISS JADA says:

    VERY INFORMATIVE….HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY

  33. David A Arnold says:

Who ever made this obviously DONT get out AT ALL….a few I agree with but some of these niggas don’t do comedy no more, some need to be in rehab so they ain’t been in a comedy club and the rest opens up FOR ME…WTF!!!! They just let anybody with a computer make a list huh?

  34. IRunLA says:

Where is nick cannon, he is a comedy legend!

  35. Seriously.. says:

Half of the comics on this list shouldn’t even be up on here… Because someone has a project coming out doesn’t mean they are someone to look out for. If that’s the case then you better add another 50 comics up here because everyone is doing something for 2012.
